About the event
ELLME is honored to welcome Dr. Ioannis Karras (Ionian University, Greece), a leading expert with over 25 years of experience in Applied Linguistics and Intercultural Communication.
In this webinar, Dr. Karras will examine the pedagogical potential of using fairytales as "critical incidents" to foster curiosity, empathy, and openness in the early years classroom. Drawing on Liddicoat and Scarino’s (2013) framework, the session will illustrate how to support the recursive processes of noticing, comparing, reflecting, and interacting in preschool and lower primary EFL/EIL contexts. The talk highlights the power of storytelling to support intercultural development through reflective interaction from the very earliest stages of language learning.
